The Mechanical Seal Training course will teach you the fundamental and basic principles of mechanical seals. It is designed for attendees to learn about the different seal types and how they are applied in industry. Understand why seals fail and how to troubleshoot to learn ways to maximize the life of your seals. Awareness of API Seal Flush Piping Plans is well covered to expand your knowledge.
Topics Covered:
Paul Xuereb brings over 47 years of specialised experience in mechanical seal design, application engineering, and commercial development across the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Petrochemical, Offshore, Power, and Mining sectors.
He began his career in the early 1980s as a Mechanical Detail Draftsman with a reputable mechanical seal company while completing his Mechanical Engineering studies part-time. In 1985, he transitioned into a Sales and Applications role, where he played a key part in expanding the Australian operation during a significant growth phase. This period saw widespread industry conversion from traditional gland packing systems to advanced mechanical seal technology, creating substantial retrofit and upgrade opportunities.
During this time, he supported major industrial clients including BASF, Dow Chemicals, BF Goodrich, Hoechst Chemicals, Altona Petrochemical Company, Petroleum Australia Company, Australian Synthetic Rubber, Commercial Polymers, and Australian Vinyl’s. Many of these large-scale manufacturing operations have since closed or relocated offshore, underscoring the depth of his experience during a transformative era in Australian industry.
Over the decades, Paul has developed extensive hands-on expertise in field service, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and performance optimisation of mechanical seals in demanding environments. He has worked extensively across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to both Greenfield developments and Brownfield upgrades, ensuring reliability, compliance, and operational efficiency.
In addition to his technical and commercial achievements, Paul is a respected industry trainer. He has delivered numerous specialised training programs for Reliability Engineers, Project Engineers, Process Engineers, and Plant Operators. His Mechanical Seal Course is highly regarded for its practical focus and real-world application, covering seal fundamentals, seal arrangements, API piping plans, materials selection, seal support systems, installation best practices, and advanced troubleshooting methodologies.
Paul looks forward to supporting your organisation through his comprehensive Mechanical Seal Training Program, equipping your team with the knowledge and practical skills required to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life.
The workshop will be conducted on-line using ‘zoom’. You will need a computer with a webcam and microphone.
